Five Acres High School

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium Grant is a government initiative introduced in 2011. It provides additional funding to publicly funded schools in England with the aim of raising attainment for disadvantaged pupils and closing the gap between them and their peers.

Funding is allocated to schools based on information from the school census. Students are eligible if they:

  • Have been entitled to free school meals at any point in the last six years.
  • Are looked after by the local authority, or have previously been in care.
  • Are children of service personnel.

At Five Acres High School, we are committed to ensuring that this funding is used effectively to support the progress and achievement of all eligible students. We recognise that every child is unique, and our approach is to use the Pupil Premium to remove barriers, raise aspirations, and provide opportunities for success.

Our Aims

  • To raise standards in literacy, mathematics, and behaviour to ensure strong progress for all students.
  • To close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
  • To raise aspirations and broaden opportunities for disadvantaged students.

Objectives

The Pupil Premium will be used to:

  • Provide targeted educational support in English, Maths, and across the curriculum to improve progress and achievement.
  • Identify and reduce any barriers to learning faced by disadvantaged pupils.
  • Improve attendance and engagement so that students can make the best possible progress.
  • Support the personal development, wellbeing, and ambitions of disadvantaged students.
