It is an honour to be Headteacher of Five Acres High School, a school with high standards and a warm heart. The school has been on a dramatic journey of improvement, and our excellent GCSE results mean that our students move on to very ambitious next steps. We are celebrating record results at Five Acres High School, building on what were excellent results last year. Our very positive progress in 2019 (provisionally standing at +0.55) should put the school in the top performing 10% of schools in the country in terms of progress.
Our aim is for students at Five Acres High School to have a 'better chance of success' than if they went anywhere else. We want them to be academically successful and also grow into wonderful young people.
We are a proud member of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, a ‘family’ of like-minded schools, that work closely together to provide mutual support and share excellent practice so that our children make excellent progress.
We are delighted to let you know we have been given some signed copies of Stacey Solomon's very first book 'happily Imperfect'. Stacey signed and donated 8 books in total this summer, when she came to the Forest for a family holiday. These books will be used by key staff and students at Five Acres High School to aid our drive for positive mental health. Stacey totally supports our schools work in this area and told us how important it is we get young people to re-evaluate what is really important, and hopes her book will help people see what really needs to be valued and how that in turn helps with a positive mental health. She wants every young person to grow up loving themselves and not falling into the media trap of 'perfection'. Her moto 'celebrate your imperfections, find joy in everyday'.
This morning we celebrated record results at Five Acres High School. We are so delighted for our Year 11 pupils who have performed exceptionally through hard work and dedication throughout their time with us. 69 per cent of our pupils achieved a grade 4 in both English and Maths and 41 per cent achieved grade 5s. Our very positive progress builds on our strong performance last year and should put the school in the top performing 15 per cent of schools in the country in terms of progress. My thanks to our brilliant staff for their excellent teaching and support, and of course to parents for their terrific support throughout.
