Top 5% of schools nationally
It is a tremendous privilege to be Headteacher of Five Acres High School, a school with incredible standards and with the community at its heart. Our outstanding GCSE results in 2019 place us inside the top 5% of schools nationally. We are driven by our aim that our students will have a better chance of success than if they went anywhere else.
As a proud member of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, a ‘family’ of like-minded schools that work collaboratively to support, challenge and develop each other, we are committed to excellence and providing the platform that allows our students to make amazing progress.
The pursuit of academic success, the development of great learning habits and a commitment to our core values ensures our students grow into exceptional young people. Our Character education offer including sports, business, careers, the arts, and outdoor education combined with our commitment to reading and improving knowledge ensures our school is a happy and exciting community to be a part of.
The Music Works Gloucestershire needs YOUR help to write a song to say THANKS! We are going to help young people across Gloucestershire to write a song to say 'thank you' to the frontline workers that are helping us! All those doctors, nurses, hospital staff, shopkeepers, supermarket workers, teachers, emergency services and those volunteering to help the most vulnerable by delivering essential food and medicine to their door - the list goes on, and we want to say "THANK YOU!" In the biggest and most musical way! So - if you have a lyric a melody a rap a chord sequence or an example song you think could inspire the piece, or just a style or mood of song you think will work, send them to firstname.lastname@example.org or DM via: Insta: https://www.instagram.com/themusicworksglos/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheMusicWorksGL FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheMusicWorksGlos Your ideas can be about how you're feeling at the moment, what you're missing, what you're enjoying that's different as well as how you'd like to say thank you to the brilliant people working to keep us all safe and well. The Music Works; with the young people we're working with, with our Upsurge Artists & Youth Voice Groups will collaborate to write a song, which we will then bring to life and make teach and learn tracks for you. Then everyone (including you!) can sing, play and record elements of the song at home and send them to us. More details on that will follow. For the time being, it's those little ideas you have in your head that they want to hear, to get started on the song.
A huge well done to the Five Acres High School students who are working hard to develop and embed our five core values of Ambition, Determination, Creativity, Confidence and Respect using our at home 'Character Education' programme. Great to see students and their families making 2020 time capsules to capture this unusual time in our history and also the creative ways that students are hiding them for people in the future to find. We have many Five Acres students showing their creativity at this time. It is also delightful to see students engaging in the Ambition Enterprise programme by developing and planning a business plan that will allow them to make profit for local registered charities. We currently have a Year 7 team making and selling scrunchies and pom pom keyrings. They have already made over £40.00 of profits. Well done! We also have a creative cake business plan in the pipeline designed by a student in Year 7 who is planning to make a huge profit for a local registered charity by making and selling a variety of delicious cakes and sweet treats.
It is Friday - what a fantastic first week of virtual schooling. We know there are some teething issues, which we are working through as quick as we can, but we have been so impressed with the hard work and commitment of our students. Well done!! A special well done also needs to go to our amazing teachers for their hard work this week!!
