TRANSITION CURRICULUM
Welcome to our transition curriculum!
We know that this year, everyone's experience of Year 6 has been different. Some students will have stayed at school for the whole year; while others will have missed several months. Some may have had access to lots of online lessons, while others will not have.
On this page, our teachers at the Greenshaw Learning Trust have put together a programme of lessons to help you get ready for Secondary School. The programme is uniquely designed to cover all key knowledge areas in core subjects often identified by Year 7 teachers as needing further consolidation.
It includes carefully selected PSHE topics aimed to reduce ‘new starter anxiety’ through lessons designed to boost confidence, raise self-esteem, and improve social skills. We would strongly advise that all students complete these PSHE lessons.
It also features taught ‘Study Skills’ lessons to improve organisation, enable increased retention of knowledge and promote efficient time management to give children the best chance of success at secondary school.
These lessons are not compulsory, and students won't be tested on them in September, but we encourage students to attempt as many as they can to get their brains warmed up for the new year!
